Having held Seat #1 for two previous terms, former Council member, Julie McKnight, hopes to have the opportunity to once again serve her cherished coastal community. Julie has enjoyed Indialantic’s relaxed beachside atmosphere since 1999, raising two boys with husband Jason. Both of her boys attended Indialantic Elementary & Hoover Middle School. Raising her family in an area that prioritizes safety, a respect for nature & offers so many outdoor activities, provides her with a true appreciation of Indialantic’s special character.

Julie is a lifelong resident of Brevard County, and a graduate of University of Florida. Applying her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations to help grow three successful retail stores in Downtown Melbourne, she understands the hard work & dedication of the small business owner.  In 2017, after closing the chapter on over 25 years as an Operational Retail Manager, Julie was finally afforded the time to become a full-time homemaker. With more free time, Julie was able to dedicate her talents to volunteering on Indialantic’s Parks, Recreation & Beautification Committee. This role led to her interest in serving the town in a greater capacity. While serving her first term as a council member, she joined the Garden Club by the Sea. You will often find Julie tending her area in Indialantic’s Lily Park, where she can express her love for gardening, all while helping to maintain & beautify a shared community space. In order to help local businesses during Covid, Julie created a Facebook page called Support Local Indialantic. To date, she continues to serve as Admin, volunteering her time to share content to encourage local support of area businesses. 

With a true love for her beachside town, Julie’s priority is preserving the safety, tranquility & beauty of Indialantic. She believes these treasured characteristics are worth protecting from overgrowth that could spoil the Indialantic lifestyle.
